Cady Mall
Cady Mall was originally known as College Avenue and was open to traffic. There were no stop signs in between University Drive and Apache Boulevard. College Avenue was a favored spot for parades and marching bands before it was closed to street traffic in 1966.The planter in front of Hayden Library and Danforth Chapel was a popular hangout for Mexican–American ASU students. It became known as the Chicano Bush. Here Chicano/a students discussed events of the day, planned social and political events, staged their demonstrations or protests, and set up tables that expressed their political views.
