Welcome to the Design District

🏙️ Welcome to the Design District

When you choose California College of the Arts (CCA), you get the comfort of a smaller campus community with the perks of an urban campus. “The City,” as we lovingly call San Francisco, is a cultural playground where you can enjoy diverse food options, world-class museums and galleries, and parks and gardens. In this tour, our students tell you about their favorite off-campus spots, how to get around town, and why they love living and learning in the Bay.

CCA is located in the Design District, where our neighbors are innovative design studios, showrooms, and tech giants like Adobe, Pinterest, Zynga, and more. This part of town is on the rise as the “new power center of Bay Area visual arts,” according to the San Francisco Chronicle. It’s also one of the most desirable places to live in San Francisco.

We’re a short walk from the Chase Center, where the NBA’s Golden State Warriors (and soon, the WNBA’s Golden State Valkyries) play in Mission Bay, a quick bus ride away from dozens of galleries and museums in the Dogpatch, and steps from the most exciting restaurants in the Mission District.

Campus Safety

Your safety is our priority. Our campus properties are protected by our Public Safety department all day, every day. Additionally, all of our buildings are protected with electronic key card access. Residence halls have front desk reception with strict guest protocols and locked mailboxes. For after hours safety, students and all members of the CCA community are able to request a walking escort by a Public Safety officer.
