The Michael C. Carlos Museum is an interdisciplinary center for the study of art and culture, with collections from Africa; ancient Egypt, Nubia, and the Near East; ancient Greece and Rome; the Indigenous Americas; and South Asia; as well as American and European works on paper.

⭐ Special Exhibitions
Each semester, the Carlos Museum installs a new Level Three temporary special exhibition. Recent special exhibitions include Life and the Afterlife: Ancient Egyptian Art from the Senusret Collection; Making an Impression: The Art and Craft of Ancient Engraved Gemstones; And I Must Scream: The Monstrous Expression of our Global Crises; Each/Other: Marie Watt and Cannupa Hanska Luger, a collection by two contemporary indigenous artists; and Do or Die—Affect, Ritual, Resistance by Emory alumnus Dr. Fahamu Pecou.
⭐ Works on Paper Exhibitions
Each semester, the Carlos Museum also installs a new works on paper exhibition. Recent examples of these exhibitions include Fellini and Fantasy, Indigo Prayers: A Creation Story by Atlanta artist-activist and Emory Artist-in-resident Charmaine Minniefield, The Avatars of Vishnu, an exhibition of one of the most popular Hindu deities curated by Emory Students, and Piranesi’s Pages: Rome in Books and Prints, 1756–1776.
⭐ Ebrik Coffee Room
Carlos Museum is also home to a local Atlanta brewing company-Ebrik (eh-BREEK) Coffee Room! This hidden coffee location is a popular spot for students to wind down after class and in between viewing galleries at the Carlos.
