The NDSU sheep flock in Fargo is composed of purebred Hampshire, Columbia and Katahdin ewes, as well as commercial Whiteface ewes.

Started in 1890, the NDSU beef herd supports NDSU’s mission of research, outreach, and teaching by providing high-quality cattle for those purposes.

Biomedical engineering is an emerging field, filled with exciting opportunities. Biomedical engineers combine their design and problem-solving skills with their knowledge of medical and biological sciences to advance health care treatments and make people's lives better.

Known throughout campus as the Oreo, Spaceship, or Yo-Yo, this uniquely-shaped engineering building houses the administrative offices for the college.

The NDSU Equine Center is situated on 14 acres of land within the North Dakota Horse Park and is the epicenter of the NDSU Equine Science Program.

In addition to a major in Equine Science, students can minor in Therapeutic Horsemanship, which focuses on equine assisted activities, therapies, and knowledge of disabilities.

The Equine Science program at NDSU includes coursework in equestrian styles, nutrition and physiology, selection and management of the horse enterprise.

In addition to a major and minor in Equine Science, students interested in horses can also join the Horsemen’s Association, Equestrian Team, or Rodeo Team.

In addition to being the home arena of the NDSU Bison Football team, the FargoDome hosts a number of events including concerts, plays, and craft shows.

While students show their Bison Pride year-round, never is it more obvious than in the student section of a Bison football game.

The NDSU Bison Football team is are 16-time, Division I, NCAA National Champions.

Students take many general education courses in Gate City Bank Auditorium, from biology and chemistry, to history and psychology.

As a research university, NDSU students of all levels – including undergraduate – are able to learn in top facilities alongside faculty members and researchers who are in the top of their field.

A room in the greenhouse belongs to the NDSU Horticulture and Forestry Club, and is used as a resource to help students learn propagation, greenhouse management, watering techniques, repotting, and also holds inventory for various plant sales.

The Greenhouse Complex at NDSU has research and education facilities for plant breeding, genetics, horticulture, entomology, plant pathology, plant nutrition, and other subjects.

While studying the lifespan of plants is important, students are also able to learn about plant care and upkeep.

One of the most notable additions is the Northern Crop Institute, which is attached to the building's south side. The purpose of the Institute is to "facilitate the international and domestic marketing of Upper Great Plains agricultural crops" and to teach "world food industry how to purchase, process and use the crops of North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota and Montana."

Classes are offered to a variety of people from the food industry such as pasta makers, bakers and commodity traders.

Harris Hall has full cereal processing capabilities, including a fully equipped bake laboratory, continuous bread-baking equipment, and dough testing.

The Department of Architecture and Landscape Architecture values optimism, respect, sharing, engagement, and innovation between and among the members of its faculty, student body, administration and staff, in the studio environment, but also all other learning environments, both traditional and non-traditional.

The Apparel, Retail Merchandising, and Design program at NDSU gives students four degree options: fashion product development, fashion entrepreneurship, retail merchandising, and interior merchandising.

At NDSU, students gain hands-on learning experiences in the classroom, through research, and with internship and job opportunities.

Students in the College of Engineering can participate in exciting research actively advancing the world around us.

Students have the option to major or minor in equine sciences. These students get hands-on experience working with horses in a variety of contexts.

Undergraduate students can learn during supervised research experiences outside the college classroom and earn credit. Students will have the opportunity to work with world-renowned scientists, take part in cutting-edge research, and present newly learned knowledge at scientific symposia.

At the undergraduate level, the HDFS department offers a curriculum leading to a Bachelor's degree through five options: adult development & aging, child and adolescent development, family science, elementary education/child development, and social work in family science or adult development and aging.

The Infant Cognitive Development Lab is part of the HDFS research facility. The lab is dedicated to investigating how infants learn about and process information in their environment. One of the primary goals is to find ways parents and caregivers can help their infants learn.

NDSU’s HDFS/Elementary Education program is a dual-degree program from Valley City State University and North Dakota State University. This dual-degree program provides students a well-rounded education in how to educate children from a holistic perspective.
