Bates House
A one-of-a-kind residence hall community with in-building academic resources and an all-you-can-eat diner. Housing for first year students. The 10-story tower complex, located south of Blossom Street between Pickens and Sumter streets, introduced a variety of room arrangements and color schemes in an attempt to personalize students' living quarters and move beyond drab, institutional dormitory design. Bates House is named for Jeff B. Bates, a Carolina alumnus and former state treasurer of South Carolina.
