Every summer, dozens of Amherst College students engage in research in the physical sciences, natural sciences, social sciences and humanities. From laboratories to archives to the field, students can spend six or more weeks extending their classroom research, working on their senior theses or assisting in faculty experiments. The Summer Research Poster Session is an opportunity for student researchers to share works in progress, summer research stories, thesis ideas and experimental results.

Inside shot of LeFrak Gymnasium with peaked roof and women's basketball team playing.

Home of Amherst basketball and volleyball, the space features unique architecture, a main competition court, and a secondary practice court. Opening its doors in 1976 and dubbed the New Gymnasium, a fire destroyed the original facility in 1985 before it was rebuilt with the generous support of Richard LeFrak ’67 and the Richard and Karen LeFrak Charitable Foundation. Renamed LeFrak Gym, the space still thrives today and has hosted countless athletic triumphs & indoor events.
