College of General Studies

The College of General Studies is a small, liberal arts college within Boston University, offering first and second-year students an interdisciplinary and global curriculum through a two-year program. The CGS curriculum is designed to give you a comprehensive liberal arts foundation in the humanities, social sciences, rhetoric, and natural sciences—all while taking electives toward your major.

Students admitted to the College of General Studies begin their studies in January with a semester at BU in Boston, followed by six weeks in London or in Boston during the summer term.
