Stevenson College is one of ten residential colleges that make up one of the defining experiences for students at UC Santa Cruz: the residential college system.
Founded in 1966, Stevenson is the second college established at UCSC. It's named for Adlai E. Stevenson, a former governor of Illinois, democratic presidential candidate, and Ambassador to the United Nations. Stevenson’s legacy of public service and his dedication to the principles of democracy live on at the college that bears his name.

🏠 Housing & The Residential Colleges
One of the defining experiences for students at UC Santa Cruz is our residential college system. Year-after-year, our alumni identify their residential college experience and student group involvement as central to their core identities and connection to campus. The people you will live with in these communities, the shared experiences, your growth academically and personally, are all fostered by the close-knit, home-away-from-home structure our residential colleges provide.
These ten communities, each with their own academic themes, architecture, activities, location, and support resources, provide a neighborhood for your lived campus experience. By design, our residential colleges are not connected to any specific major. This provides a wonderful opportunity to interact, live, and learn alongside fellow banana slugs from different backgrounds, countries, and experiences.

🌊 Stevenson College
Stevenson is located on a hill overlooking the beautiful Pacific Ocean, close to the University restaurants and shops, library, pool, track, and gym. The College is home to the College Student Life Production Studio (CSLP), a resource for students, staff and faculty of UC Santa Cruz who want to produce virtual events, lead virtual workshops, host trainings, record and/or broadcast keynote speakers, and more! It's managed and operated by University professional-staff and a student Tech Crew. Stevenson also is home to the Josh Alper Marines Music room, a space is intended for use by Stevenson students to practice music/performance that would otherwise be disruptive in the residence halls due to noise levels. Stevenson is home to the Rosa Parks African American Themed House (RPAATH), a student-initiated living-learning space for students whose interests span historical, present-day, and future experiences of predominantly African, Black, and Caribbean peoples.
