Holistic Application Review
At Case Western Reserve University, we review each application for admission carefully, taking into consideration your academic background, life experiences and interests. Decision plans include binding Early Decision I and II; Early Action; Regular Decision; and Pre-Professional Scholars Program (PPSP), which grants conditional admission to medical or dental school for exceptionally qualified students.

Test Optional
Case Western Reserve University is test optional for the classes entering through fall 2024.

No testing is required for any of our nearly 100 programs of undergraduate study.
No testing is required for the Pre-Professional Scholars Program (conditional admission to medical or dental school).
No testing is required for any of our scholarship or financial aid programs.
If you take a standardized test, you choose whether to send us your scores or not.
At the time of application, students choose whether they wish to apply with testing scores or as test-optional candidates, and you can change your mind about this up until two weeks before your decision release date by completing the form on your applicant portal.
For students who choose to submit SAT or ACT scores, there are three ways you can submit them. You can report your scores on the Common or Coalition Application, have your official score reports sent from the testing agency or self-report your scores on your applicant portal, which you will be given access to within two weeks of submitting your application. Enrolling students will confirm their testing with official score reports.

Admitted to the University
When students are admitted to Case Western Reserve University, they are admitted to the university as a whole, not to a particular school or major. As a Case Western Reserve student, you are free to choose your major(s) and minor(s) across our 100+ academic programs in the arts, business, engineering, humanities, natural sciences, nursing and social sciences. This gives our students complete access to all our academic programs to allow them to reach their personal and professional goals.

Financial Aid
We meet 100% of demonstrated need for all admitted students. And, based on the success of our alumni, we are confident a CWRU education pays off. Applicants can be considered for need-based financial aid awards, including a combination of grants, loans and work-study. More than 80% of our students receive some financial assistance. To be eligible for consideration for financial aid and are an incoming U.S. citizen or permanent resident, you must complete both the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the CSS Profile. If you are not a citizen or permanent resident of the United States but wish to be considered for financial aid, you must complete the CSS Profile.
