Guy Wells (GSU’s 5th President) wanted to change the marsh-like look on campus to something beautiful, so he decided to build a lake.
Wells named the lake after himself, and then built a second, bigger lake and named it after his wife (Ruby) after he was sent to the couch.
From the air, the lakes are shaped like the State of Georgia.
