Hello Commuters!
🏫🚙 Hello Commuters!
Greetings from a fellow commuter student...
My name is Hope and I am a public relations major with a minor in educational studies. I am from Lewis Center, Ohio, which is only 9 miles away from campus. I commute from home but I have found ways to make Otterbein my second home! I’ve listed some of my favorite spots to hang out around campus below and I’ve included some photos of these spaces in the Media Gallery above.
The Commuter Lounge
The commuter lounge is a great place for students to connect with other commuters. It is located in the lower level of Towers and has lockers along with vending machines.
Other Commuter-Friendly Spaces
Courtright Memorial Library
The library on campus is a good place to study and grab a coffee! I typically like to sit in the cafe and do some schoolwork but if it is busy, I go to the upper floors for a quieter study environment. The library is in the heart of Otterbein’s campus so sometimes when I am in between classes, I’ll walk over and hang out there.
Sigma Alpha Tau (Sorority House)
Here at Otterbein, I am an active member of Sigma Alpha Tau sorority. One of the perks of commuting and being involved in Greek life is being able to spend time at our chapter’s house. I enjoy stopping in and visiting with my sisters who live there when I am on campus.
Art & Communication Building
The Art & Comm building is where I spend a large amount of my time. Most of my major-related classes are held here and my professors have their offices in this building. There is a lounge in the communication department’s section of the building with TV’s and seating. If there is a gap between my classes and they are both held here, I will go watch TV and hang out with my friends.
The Point
Across the street from the Art & Comm building is The Point. The cafe here is one of my favorite places to spend time in. Their strawberry banana smoothie is the best! I can always find a place to sit and there is less foot traffic than the library. Plus, the cafe has made to order breakfast sandwiches and omelets.
