👟 Exercise and Sport Performance

Our Exercise and Sport Performance Department offers majors in Applied Exercise Science and Athletic Training.

Exercise and Sport Performance

The Alfond Forum also houses premier facilities for UNE’s Athletic Training and Applied Exercise Science programs, with cutting-edge equipment, training spaces, classrooms, and labs. In both programs, education focuses on clinical application and hands-on learning.

Our Exercise and Sport Performance department’s close working relationship with UNE’s medical school opens the door to fascinating opportunities, including courses in gross anatomy taught by exercise scientists. With access to UNE’s other health professions students and faculty, you’ll learn how to work effectively in collaborative, interprofessional health care teams.

🏀 Athletics

UNE competes at the Division III varsity level and has a variety of club and intramural teams.

Athletic Fields

Our student-athletes also train and compete on two blue turf fields, Blue Storm Stadium and Blue Bolt Field. You can always catch our mascot, Stormin’ Norman, there cheering on our teams!

Varsity, Club, and Intramural Sports

Whether you are a varsity athlete, participate in a club or intramural team, or love to cheer from the stands, our Nor’easters athletics teams are a serious source of pride at UNE.

We have 18 NCAA Division III varsity sports and compete in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. Our student-athletes train and compete in state-of-the-art athletics facilities, including the Harold Alfond Forum and our two blue turf fields, Blue Storm Stadium and Blue Bolt Field.

From ultimate frisbee to flag football, to dance and crew, our club and intramural teams are popular on campus and an excellent way to get in on some fun competition.

It’s also great to be a fan at UNE! Cheer on your fellow Nor'easters with our faithful mascot, Stormin’ Norman. You'll feel the energy and spend time with friends when you jump into the sports scene on campus.
