Like minds grow together at Bucknell’s affinity houses. Each of our affinity houses is home to a community of sophomores, juniors and seniors united by a common interest and purpose, like sustainability, outdoor recreation, entrepreneurship and the performing arts.
Some of these build on the themes you can explore as a first-year student in Bucknell’s Residential Colleges, while others were envisioned by students.

The latest group of 13 affinity houses includes:
64 University Ave.: The Outhouse
At the Outhouse, residents promote outdoor recreational activities and explore their shared love for the outdoors. The goal is to promote environmental awareness and help the larger University community explore and appreciate the outdoors.
7th Street House: Umoja
7th Street House focuses on highlighting the importance of Umoja, or “unity.” Its mission is to convene Black people and other people of color in order to foster a welcoming, comfortable environment for minority students on Bucknell’s campus.
Corner House: International
The International Affinity House promotes the international community on campus by engaging the wider Bucknell community in global and cultural activities, thereby creating an inclusive space that celebrates culture and diversity on campus.
Start Your Own
If you don’t see an affinity house that meets your interests, you can start your own. Students who share a similar interest can apply to live together in a future academic year.
Tower House: Fran’s House
Fran’s House, named after the late director of the LGBTQ Resources, Fran McDaniel, provides Bucknell University with LGBTQ-friendly, gender-neutral housing. The house serves as a safe place for LGBTQ individuals and allies at all times and sponsors events to enrich the lives of LGBTQ individuals and allies on campus.
