McDonnell Hall
At Bucknell, living and learning aren’t separated into distinct spaces and hours — we believe learning can happen any time there’s curiosity and the will to know more. You’ll see that philosophy in action in McDonnell Hall.

🛏️ A Second Home
Your Bucknell experience doesn’t end at the classroom door. We’re committed to bringing Bucknell’s spirit of discovery, respect and inclusivity to the residential living experience. We’ll challenge and empower you to think critically, reflect continuously and identify your purpose at Bucknell and beyond. With our friendly and helpful staff of residential advisers, we work to provide an interconnected residential experience for all Bucknellians.
Living-learning Communities
McDonnell is also home to some of Buckell’s Residential Colleges: themed living-learning communities for first-year students. Open to all students — no matter what they plan to major in — the Res Colleges allow students to live with others who share their interests and to explore them together, anytime and anywhere. Diversity abounds, even within individual Residential Colleges, which brings interdisciplinary perspective to your experience. While you’ll share a broad common interest such as social justice or technology, you’ll meet classmates from across the country and around the world, with a wide variety of backgrounds.
More Than a Building
Many first-year Bucknell students call McDonnell Hall home, but it’s also where you’ll find classrooms, space to work on group projects, and a beautiful lounge with two-story, vaulted wood ceilings that earn it the nickname “the Ski Lounge.”
