The Arts at Hamilton
⭐ The Arts at Hamilton
Hamilton’s arts programs are not just for artists; they’re inclusive, and that makes them distinctive. The purpose of the arts is not merely to develop the talents of students who major in and plan careers in these fields; it is also to integrate creative work and performance into learning and life on College Hill.
About the Kennedy Center
The Kennedy Center for Theatre and the Studio Arts is a spectacular building that was designed to be the home of the arts at Hamilton. It contains two flexible theatres for student performances, and dedicated spaces for woodworking, sculpture, casting, painting, drawing, and printmaking. In addition, personal studio space is set aside for senior art majors.
Wellin Museum of Art
Across College Hill Road from the Kennedy Center is the Wellin Museum of Art. The museum features a collection of cross-cultural art and artifacts that span millennia. As a teaching museum, the Wellin serves students, faculty, and the broader community, encouraging observation, exploration, and engagement. It complements the liberal arts experience and curriculum by presenting exhibitions with interdisciplinary access points to inspire dialogue about arts and culture that is global in its scope.
Students are integral to the Wellin Museum. The museum offers opportunities for experiential learning and professional growth through teaching, research, and collaborative projects. Students participate in various aspects of museum operations, from leading tours and working with school groups to documenting and researching museum collections.
