The Arts

You’re looking at the University's Fine Arts complex, which provides spaces for art studios and rooms for theater, music, technical production and dance.

It houses 3 theaters, the largest of which is the 12-hundred-seat Anderson Center for the Performing Arts. The facility has retractable walls and sliding windows to morph into an amphitheater during summer months, allowing an additional 1,500 guests to enjoy performances on the lawn, under the stars. Past shows have included Postmodern Jukebox, the Russian ballet, the Shanghai Opera and loads of other internationally acclaimed performances.

At Binghamton, you don't have to major in fine arts to experience music, theater and art to showcase your talent! The Department of Music presents more than 100 concerts each year, and most of them are free. No matter your major, you can participate in music classes, ensembles and lessons.

All students may audition or be part of a crew for any of the Mainstage productions in the Department of Theatre. Mainstage productions include one drama and one musical each year.

And Binghamton offers classes in drawing, painting, sculpting, printmaking and graphic design.

Student artists hold exhibitions at the Binghamton University Art Museum, which houses more than 4,000 objects from all major periods of art history. They are always looking to add new artwork. Will visitors be looking at your work in the near future?
