Lasry Center for Bioscience
The state-of-the-art Cathy ’83 and Marc ’81 Lasry Center for Bioscience houses the Biology Department and is a center of scientific research on campus. Classrooms, research laboratories, conference rooms, lounge spaces, and faculty offices feature an abundance of natural light. Its teaching and collaborative spaces, and an impressive collection of equipment, are used by faculty and students in biology, biochemistry and molecular biology, and environmental science. Students pursuing one of Clark’s prehealth tracks can access cancer and genome labs through coursework and faculty-led projects here.

Clark's status as a research university means that 100% of students have access to research opportunities. In biology and the life sciences, this is an incredible opportunity for students to explore and create new knowledge side-by-side with faculty.
Research Centers and Institutes
Clark’s seven research centers and institutes are incubators for faculty and student research across and beyond the Clark campus. They promote research and funding opportunities among departments and disciplines. These centers are the Adam Institute for Urban Teaching and School Practice, Clark Labs, George Perkins Marsh Institute, Hiatt Center for Urban Education, Higgins School of Humanities, Mosakowski Institute for Public Enterprise, and Strassler Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies.
Sharing Your Research
There are many ways Clark shares and celebrates student research. Faculty members invite exceptional undergraduates to share their work on campus at ClarkFEST, a day-long celebration of student projects, each semester. Clarkies also share their work at conferences hosted by organizations such as the American Association of Geographers and the American Psychological Association. Students can publish their original work in the Scholarly Undergraduate Research Journal (SURJ).
Prehealth Advising
Whether you hope to become a physician, pharmacist, or another type of health professional, Clark is committed to helping you find the right path toward YOUR career. Our low student-faculty ratio means you will get to know your professors through small classes and research collaboration. Outside of Clark, Worcester abounds with hospitals and other healthcare settings for opportunities to intern, volunteer, network, job-shadow, and more.
Most medical and other professional schools require you to take specific courses during your undergraduate career, so it’s important to plan your schedule early. From choosing your major to selecting preprofessional courses, Clark’s Prehealth Advising Program is here to help. We also help students with applications to medical school and other health professional schools: nursing, physician’s assistant, dentistry, ophthalmology, osteopathy, veterinary programs, and more.
