The Surgical Technologist serves primarily as a member of the surgical team. They work with surgeons, anesthetists, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, and other surgical personnel in delivering patient care and providing a safe environment. The ophthalmic assistant is a technical worker who assists an ophthalmologist in providing direct patient care as well as in medical office organization/administration. The mission of the Delgado Community College Ophthalmic Medical Assisting Program is to provide students with both academic and clinical instruction, which will prepare them to function as competent, compassionate, entry-level ophthalmic assistants, who respond professionally and ethically to patients and other members of the healthcare community.

🏥 Diagnostic Medical Sonography

Diagnostic Medical Sonography involves the use of low intensity, high frequency acoustical waves to provide diagnostic information about human anatomy and pathology. The Diagnostic Medical Sonography program at Delgado Community College is a sixteen (16) month accredited program of formal and practical education in diagnostic medical sonography. Upon successful completion, students will be eligible to take the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography exams in Sonographic Principles & Instrumentation, Obstetrics-Gynecology, and Abdomen. The program is academically based with practical experience offered at numerous affiliate hospitals located in the New Orleans area. Classes are to start in the Fall semester (August) and extend through the following December. The deadline for receipt of completed applications including documents and transcripts is May 1st of each year.

📷 Respiratory Care Technology

Respiratory Care Technology (RSPT) is an allied health specialty practiced under the direction of a licensed physician and involves the assessment, testing, diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of persons with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system. The RSPT Program includes prerequisites and two years of integrated general education, required related courses and the professional courses. The RSPT component begins in August of each year consists of two years of combined didactic and clinical education.

🖥️ Medical Registration Specialist

The Registration Specialist Program promotes a learning environment to develop the technical competency skills and critical thinking skills using a variety of instructional methods such as web-enhanced online course work, lecture recordings, videos, and simulated laboratory activities in an electronic health record and projects.
