The ophthalmic assistant is a technical worker who assists an ophthalmologist in providing direct patient care as well as in medical office organization/administration. The mission of the Delgado Community College Ophthalmic Medical Assisting Program is to provide students with both academic and clinical instruction, which will prepare them to function as competent, compassionate, entry-level ophthalmic assistants, who respond professionally and ethically to patients and other members of the healthcare community.

Respiratory Care Technology (RSPT) is an allied health specialty practiced under the direction of a licensed physician and involves the assessment, testing, diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of persons with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system.
The RSPT Program includes prerequisites and two years of integrated general education, required related courses and the professional courses. The RSPT component begins in August of each year consists of two years of combined didactic and clinical education.
