Historic Renovated Halls

Some of the most unique and prestigious living spaces at FSU are the historically renovated residence halls. Constructed in the early 20th century, these buildings have been updated to blend historic charm with modern convenience. Bryan Hall, built in 1907, is the oldest residence hall and originally housed students from the Florida Female College. It was renovated in 1997 to create a suite-style layout, recapturing the elegance of its original design while offering modern amenities like study spaces, lounges, and in-house classrooms.

The complete list of historically renovated halls includes:

  • Bryan Hall (1907)

  • Reynolds Hall (1911)

  • Broward Hall (1917)

  • Jennie Murphree Hall (1921)

  • Gilchrist Hall (1926)

  • Landis Hall (1939)

  • Cawthon Hall (1948)

🌟 Historic Halls Features

These halls are located around Landis Green, providing easy access to Strozier Library, Suwannee Dining a buffet style dining hall, and other campus hotspots. Their unique layouts include various room types, such as suite triples, which aren't available in newer halls. The buildings boast timeless architectural features while incorporating updates like shared bathroom connecting rooms, study lounges, and community spaces.

These halls prioritize first-year students, but a limited number of spaces are reserved for returning upper-division students. If you're seeking an immersive campus experience rich in history and community, these halls are an excellent choice.
