Residence Life
🏠 Residence Life
NDSU Residence Life provides more than a bed, we provide a place to grow, learn, connect, explore, and make an impact. You can create the experience you want. All first-year students are required to live on campus their first year and can choose from thirteen different residence halls.
Hall Government
Every hall has a hall government. This organization plans hall events and functions as a voice for the hall residents. Popular hall events include "Channing Tatertottum" (Channing Tatum movie + tater tots), Super Bowl parties, and Mario Kart Tournaments. Hall government offers great opportunities to meet other students and to become more comfortable within your specific hall.
Roommate Selection
You can choose from several different ways to find your roommate! Incoming first-year students can use a service, My College Roomie, to find their roommate. My College Roomie allows you to complete a survey and will match you up with compatible people based on your answers. Students can also choose to simply be paired up with another incoming student. If you choose to go that route, NDSU Residence Life will simply notify you once your roommate has been assigned. NDSU also has a LGBTQ+ and Ally Roommate Matching program. This matching form takes the place of My College Roomie.
Residence Life Leadership
On the first floor of Cater Hall, you can find the Residence Hall Association (RHA) and National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) office. RHA is a student leadership organization that oversees the Hall Governments in all of the residence halls which allows students to enact change and plan events for their residence halls and for Residence Life as a whole. NRHH is a leadership honorary that values recognition and service and provides many volunteering and recognition opportunities across campus.
