The Rutgers University–Camden Alumni House, located at 312 Cooper Street, serves as a welcoming space for alumni to reconnect with the university and each other. Built in 1809 by iron merchant Edward Smith, this Federal-style building is one of the oldest structures in Camden's Cooper Street Historic District. Over the years, it has served various purposes, including housing the Camden branch of the Red Cross from the 1950s until 2007. A careful renovation preserved its historic charm, including original fireplaces, mantels, wood trim, molding, and a decorative staircase.
