School of Nursing, Health and Exercise Science
Health care today increasingly emphasizes health promotion over disease management, a shift aligning perfectly with our focus on wellness, healthy lifestyles, and physical fitness. Our nationally regarded school is dedicated to preparing you—through programs in nursing, public health, exercise science, and physical education teaching—for the many rewards of guiding people, communities, and populations toward improved health outcomes.
In 2016, the school opened a $1.2 million state-of-the-art Clinical Simulation Lab, giving nursing students hands-on experience in a supervised setting. A typical nursing student will complete over 400 hours of clinical practices. 95% of nursing majors pass the NCLEX nursing licensing exam, which is well above state and national averages. Our leading-edge Human Performance Lab serves as a classroom and research space for health and exercise science majors. Our public health major explores epidemics and the environmental causes of disease while quantifying the impact of the disease. For more information visit.

Application Process at TCNJ
First-Year Applicants
TCNJ takes a holistic approach to the review of our applicants, considering student abilities and involvement beyond academics. Within our application process we will review the students declared major, high school transcripts, official test scores *optional*, letters of recommendation, essay, and resume.
While there are no minimum transcript requirements for admission, recently admitted students averaged an A/A- GPA and a rank in the top 15% of their graduating class.

Transfer Applicants
The College of New Jersey values undergraduate transfer students from both two-year and four-year institutions. The applicant pool for transfer applicants is very competitive. To be eligible to apply as a transfer, an applicant must have earned or be in the process of earning at least 12 college credits with a minimum GPA of 2.5. Students seeking admission to some of the more competitive programs may require a higher GPA.
Each applicant is reviewed based on rigor of coursework, GPA, choice of major, two short answer responses, and high school transcript. The greater the number of college credits accumulated, the more weight the college transcript will carry during the application review process. Although it is optional, we do recommend that applicants include a resume and letters of recommendation.
