Athletics, Recreation and Wellness Center

Sagehen Athletics will soon have a new athletics, recreation and wellness center to call home. With construction set to begin in 2021, the $57 million renovation project will create a center that matches the excellence of our programs and supports health and wellness for the campuses of both Pomona and Pitzer. Construction of the new center is expected to be complete in time for the Fall 2022 semester.

Athletics

⛹🏽‍♂️ NCAA D3 Athletics

The Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens encompass 21 Div 3 athletics teams and are a founding member of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC).

Varsity Sports (NCAA Division 3)

Pomona combines forces with Pitzer College to field 21 varsity teams – The Sagehens – that compete in Division III NCAA athletics and as members of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC).

🏋️‍♂️ Athletics

About 25% of our students play on varsity teams (The Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens), while hundreds more participate in intramural and club sports with students across The Claremont Colleges. The new Athletics, Rec & Wellness center, which broke ground in 2021, will also support PE classes, fitness rooms and wellness initiatives.

Club Sports

While our games with cross-campus rivals Claremont McKenna-Harvey Mudd-Scripps (CMS) are not to be missed, the same players who go head-to-head during soccer season might play side-by-side on a 5C club team, like cycling, fencing, field hockey, men’s lacrosse, racquetball, roller hockey, rugby, Ultimate Frisbee, or volleyball.

Intramural Sports

You can try your hand at inner tube water polo, beach and indoor volleyball, tennis, soccer, squash, pool/billiards, chess, dodgeball, flag football, basketball, softball, racquetball, foosball and table tennis.
