Sumner Hall
Sumner Hall served as the College's first academic building in 1888 (although it started life as a grand hotel) and is now home to the Offices of Admissions and Financial Aid, as well as Mail Services. Fun fact: the bell in the tower is rung on admission decision release day to mark the new class year (e.g. 25 times for Class of '25!).

💰 Financial Aid
Pomona College is one of a handful of institutions committed to need-blind admissions and meeting the full demonstrated financial need of all students who enroll.
A Commitment to Need-Based Financial Aid
A student's financial need is determined after a careful review of each family's financial documents. We do our best to take into account each family's unique circumstances. For eligible students, the Offer of Financial Aid is composed of grant aid and a modest student employment allotment. While loans are available, Pomona does not use loans to meet a student's financial need.
📬 Admissions
Because the life of a great liberal arts college is created in large part by the students who live and learn there, we work to enroll those who will both contribute to and benefit from the extraordinary opportunities here.
Our Student Population
1,464 students come from 49 states, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico and 50 countries.
Admitted Student Profile
Students in the class of 2024 hail from 44 states and 27 countries. 54% self-identify as domestic students of color, 10.5% are international students, 21.3% are first-generation to college students, and 20.6% are Pell Grant Recipients.
Transfer Admissions
We value the diversity and breadth of experience that transfer students bring to our classrooms and social communities. Each fall, we enroll a talented group of transfer students who have attended community colleges, public and international universities, private colleges, and those who have military experience. We welcome your applications!
Pomona College is proud to partner with the Honors Transfer Council of California to assist honors community college students in the transfer process to Pomona. We also offer special assistance to those applicants who have served or are currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.

Test-Optional Policy
Pomona College has extended its test-optional policy for three additional years for students applying for first-year and transfer admission for Fall 2022, 2023 and 2024 entry. Under this policy, SAT or ACT scores are not required to apply, but students with available scores may choose to self-report them when applying.
The choice to submit or not submit test scores is up to the applicant. Students are encouraged to decide how best to present themselves to the admissions committee and whether—or not—their standardized test results accurately reflect their academic ability and potential.

📣 Land Acknowledgment
Pomona College and the Claremont Colleges were settled upon the ancestral lands of Indigenous nations, including the Gabrieliño, Serrano and Tongva peoples. These tribes continue to call this land home, despite attempts of erasure from colonizers, both past and present. Today, we work to honor both their presence and legacy through Pomona's Draper Center for Community Engagement, The Humanities Studio and the Benton Museum of Art, Scripps' Native American & Indigenous Studies minor, and Pitzer's Native Initiatives. We will continue to support these partnerships and amplify Gabrieliño, Serrano and Tongva voices as we look towards the future.
