🖍 Early Childhood Studies and Infant/Toddler Mental Health

Earn a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Studies and Infant/Toddler Mental Health to become a competent and well-qualified professional who can contribute effectively to your state’s efforts targeting access and quality in early childhood education and infant/toddler mental health. The Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Studies and Infant/Toddler Mental Health can lead to the CT-Infant/Toddler Mental Health Endorsement. Graduates will be prepared to work in publicly funded and private preschool programs.

✏ Elementary Education

Our Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education will prepare you with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions to become an exceptional teacher in grades 1 through 6. In this program you can choose a major in one of the following disciplines: English, General Science (Biology or Earth Science), Geography, History, and Mathematics. No matter which major you choose, the program’s high-caliber faculty will prepare you to be among the best and most competitive candidates in Elementary Education in Connecticut and other states in the country.

🏫 School of Education and Professional Studies

The School of Education & Professional Studies prepares students to provide leadership and service in our communities. We prepare teachers, administrators, reading specialists and special educators for our schools, as well as nurses, social workers, exercise and fitness instructors, and counselors for a host of community and private agencies in need of skilled professionals.

🖊 Secondary Education

Secondary Education refers to grades 7-12. Students on this path will be prepared to teach in a middle or high school setting.

📘 Social Work

Central's social work program utilizes strengths-based and relational understandings that respect and enhance the dignity and worth of all people. Reflective practices and collaborative activities that promote critical thinking and self awareness are fundamental to our philosophy of teaching and learning.

🎽 Exercise Science

The Exercise Science program prepares students for employment in the health/fitness industry such as commercial & corporate wellness, strength and conditioning, and cardiac rehabilitation. It is also a great preparation for entry into a graduate program or professional health care degree program such as Athletic Training, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physician Assistant, and Chiropractic. While the Athletic Training major at Central is a graduate degree, we offer an undergraduate pathway to earn a BS in Exercise Science and an MS in Athletic Training in 5 years (3+2 program).
