The Department of Economics, an integral member of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, offers courses leading to a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. The Department has a commitment to prepare students to be thoughtful, responsible, successful and involved citizens in a rapidly changing world. The Department also aspires to increase understanding of the (1) significance that Heterodox Approaches play in Economics and (2) the interconnectedness of the social and behavioral sciences. In preparation for the significant future evolution in economic thought that is likely to take effect in the coming years, the Department seeks to develop and maintain a faculty that includes members from various schools of thought, both orthodox and heterodox. To enhance the educational process and the scholarly reputation and profile of the Department, members of the Department engage in research and offer their expertise to inform community decisions and debate.

The Computer Science major is one of the first such programs offered in New England, and the honors program is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET. All Computer Science (CS) majors take courses covering program design, data structures, assembly language programming, digital design and systems programming. Topics courses, including database design and applications, networking, graphics and visualization, and Web-centric computing, allow the department's offerings to keep pace with the rapid advancement of computer technology, and are offered for elective credit on a regular basis. In addition to the regular course work, CS majors may participate in the Cooperative Education program. This program, open to juniors and seniors, allows students to put their skills to use in a real-life setting, receiving academic credit for work in a real-world environment. State-of-the-art computing facilities and university networking infrastructure provide students access to on-campus specialized software packages and streaming video capabilities, as well as Web-based remote accessibility for on-line teaching and learning.

The Bachelor of Science program in Cybersecurity provides a strong foundation in both networking and computer science and is based on faculty, facilities, and research resources in both the Department of Computer Electronics and Graphics Technology and the Department of Computer Science, as well as, support by the Department of Political Science and the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice. This interdepartmental program is designed to prepare students for careers as cybersecurity experts in identifying system vulnerabilities, detecting cyber-attacks, and securing information assets.
