Emory Student Center

The Emory Student Center (ESC) opened in May 2019, making it one of the newest buildings on campus. The ESC is the hub of student life on campus, featuring the main dining hall (Dobbs Common Table), Campus Life offices, the Eagle Emporium, Kaldi’s Coffee Shop, study spaces, large multipurpose rooms, and a recreation lounge. Additionally, the ESC is LEED Platinum–certified, which is the highest certification a building can receive in sustainability and energy efficiency.

⭐ Alumni Memorial University Center

The Alumni Memorial University Center (AMUC) is a centralized place for student organizations and support services. Students can work with student organizations, build community through campus clubs, and find support for their personal or professional goals. Along with student resource and club offices, the building houses meeting spaces, the Harland Cinema, and the Mary Gray Munroe Theater.

⭐ Recreation Lounge

Emory Student Center South features the recreation lounge, which offers a great space for students to both work in and wind down after a long day of classes. Three large flat-screen TVs can be used for a variety of gaming systems that any student can rent for free. During large sporting events, like the World Cup, students gather in the recreation lounge to cheer for their favorite team. Additionally, the lounge has an open pool table and Kaldi’s Coffee shop.

⭐ Versatile Study Environment

From comfortable couches to individual desk spaces, the Student Center features all kinds of different study environments. Students often work on group projects in the circular seating arrangements that can be found in the center of Emory Student Center North.

⭐ Sustainability Focus

The Emory Student Center is the first building at Emory to be LEED Platinum–certified, which is the highest certification a building can receive in sustainability and energy efficiency. The building generates its energy via geothermal capture and solar panels. Currently, 40 percent of the food in the Dobbs Common Table and other Emory Dining locations is sourced locally, with the goal to be 75 percent by 2025. Some produce served on both campuses comes from an 11-acre farm at Oxford College.

⭐ Dining Options

The Dobbs Common Table, located on the first floor of the Emory Student Center, is the largest dining hall on campus and offers a variety of dining options during the three times it is open throughout the day. The Eagle Emporium is a small convenience store located on the second floor of the Emory Student Center that sells alternative dining options, including prepackaged meals and sandwiches, an ice cream shop, and various snacks.

Accommodating Dietary Restrictions

Emory makes sure to accommodate any dietary restrictions their students may have. The Dobbs Common Table is completely peanut, tree nut, and shellfish-free, and offers specially-designated areas for vegetarian/vegan, gluten-free, kosher, and halal options.

Dooley Dollars & Eagle Dollars

All on-campus dining locations accept both Dooley and Eagle Dollars. Dooley Dollars, the equivalent of dining dollars, roll over between fall and spring semesters, while Eagle Dollars roll over year-to-year. Purchases made with Dooley Dollars come with a 5% discount and tax exemption. Eagle Dollars can be used wherever Dooley Dollars can be used, in addition to vending machines, on-campus bookstores, printing, and at select off-campus locations. First-years are required to purchase a meal plan with unlimited meal swipes and $150 Dolley Dollars per semester. More options open up for upperclass students, allowing anyone to customize how much of their meal plan is allocated to Meal Swipes, Dooley, and Eagle Dollars. Meal Swipes can be used in the DCT, Clairmont's Student Activity and Athletic Center, and Ray’s Pizza at the Woodruff Residential Center.
