Smothers Theatre

Smothers Theatre seats 448 patrons and is the largest theatre in Malibu. Each year, the Lisa Smith Wengler Center for the Arts hosts a variety of mainstage productions in Smothers.

Smothers Theatre is adjacent to the Music Building which houses our vocal, instrumental, and composition programs.

Fine Arts Division

This division offers students excellent training in the disciplines of studio art, art history, music, and theatre arts. With approximately 300 students in the division, the unique programs are designed to prepare and inspire students to develop critical thinking, nurture creativity, and create the highest level of art and scholarship. Study Abroad

Theatre and Music students have unique study abroad opportunities through biennial summer trips to perform at the Edinburgh International Festival Fringe, the largest live theatre festival in the world, and the Heidelberg Opera and Chamber Music Program.

🎭️ Theatre and Music Productions

The 2023-2024 season is highlighted by the student productions: This Girl Laughs, This Girl Cries, This Girl Does Nothing, an all-ages play by Finegan Kruckemeyer, the classic American musical, The Music Man, by Meredith Wilson, Pepperdine's first-ever performance of Shakespeare's The Tempest, and more.

Dance in Flight

Dance in Flight (DIF) is an entirely student-run production that gives emerging dancers and choreographers the chance to showcase their talents in a professional performance atmosphere. The show spotlights Pepperdine students, of all majors and backgrounds, performing a variety of dance principles from Jazz, Hip Hop, Tap, Ballet, and more.
