💻 School of Computing

Majors within UNF’s School of Computing include Information Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, and Computer Science.

Cybersecurity is a huge focus, and our students are super competitive in regional and national competitions — many teams place high in hackathons and often beat out top universities from around the country.

UNF also offers a new bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Financial Technology (FinTech) – a hot industry with jobs in high-demand.

Many computing students participate in paid internships that also provide valuable local networking opportunities.

Here on campus, we have a Student-led Security Operations Center where our students gain real-world experience monitoring and responding to actual security incidents and threats. The jobs are open to all majors, but especially popular among our computing and IT majors.

Computing Jobs and Internships

Many computing students participate in paid internships throughout their program duration.

After graduation, job placements usually pay an average wage of $17 per hour and provide invaluable local networking opportunities.

📡 School of Engineering

Our engineering programs, located in Skinner-Jones Hall (Building 4) are known for interdisciplinary hands-on education, paid internship opportunities, and high employment rates.

We offer Bachelor and Master’s degrees in Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering.

We also offer a BS in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, a MS in Coastal and Port Engineering, and an MS in Materials Science and Engineering.

💡 Engineering In-Practice

Our engineering students are engaged in local and national engineering competitions like the Concrete Canoe Competition for civil engineers, Osprey Car Design, Build and Racing club for mechanical engineers, and Formula SAE Race Car and robotics for mechanical, electrical and advanced manufacturing engineers.

Many students participate in paid internship opportunities that average between $19 - $20 an hour.

Average salary for graduating seniors is almost $80k.

As a final senior design capstone course, students can work with local companies on real-world projects.

👷 Department of Construction Management

The Department of Construction Management provides an interdisciplinary construction management education. We offer Bachelor's and Master’s degrees in construction management.

Construction Management Experience

Nearly 100% job placement

Average salary for graduating seniors is approximately $70k with benefits.

Internships are mandatory, and students complete paid internships of average $20 an hour.

In Jacksonville, there are opportunities for students to participate in site visits for local construction companies.

Graduating seniors pursue their careers in residential, commercial, heavy civil, and industrial construction areas as construction engineers, managers, superintendents, and project managers.

Participating in professional association student clubs, including Association of Building Construction (ABC), North American Society for Trenchless Technology (NASTT), National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), and others.
