The Gates-Dell Complex was made possible in large part through major gifts of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation. It is home to UT's top-10 ranked Department of Computer Science. In the adjacent building is the visualization lab for Frontera, the most powerful supercomputer at any university in the world, as well as the fifth most powerful in the world overall. It's run by the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) and has enabled discoveries in numerous fields of study by researchers across the globe.
