🏆 Athletics
A member of the University Athletic Association (UAA), WashU is a Division III athletics school with 23 national championship titles across our 19 varsity teams. Students may also get involved in athletics though club and intramural sports teams on campus. A top 5 program in the country, our scholar-champions succeed both on the field and in the classroom.
Club Sports
WashU sponsors 40 sports clubs, which are a popular option for students interested in a sport that WashU does not offer at the varsity level, or for students who want to compete collegiately without the time commitment required of a varsity sport. Many sport clubs compete against other colleges and universities at the local, regional and national level.
Some sport clubs are non-competitive, offering students an avenue to be involved in a recreational pursuit such as badminton, sailing, or rock climbing.

Intramurals
WashU Rec offers leagues and events in more than 35 sports annually. Most sports are broken up into Open, Co-Rec, or Women’s leagues, and within each league there is an option to join a competitive division or a division focused more on fun and participation. About 75% of WashU students participate in an intramural sport.
