The Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts is made up of the College of Art, the College of Architecture, and the Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum. Classes in Sam Fox are open to any student at WashU, regardless of their home division.
Weil Hall was built as part of the East End Transformation in 2019 and is the main home to WashU’s graduate student programs in Sam Fox, including the Master of Fine Arts program and graduate programs for architecture and urban design. Weil Hall is also home to a new digital fabrication lab.

Research
Sam Fox School research projects range in scope from developing innovations in printmaking to research on how graphic design can empower cultural institutions to effect social awareness thorough the use of public poster/newspaper installations.
In addition to individual student and faculty research projects, Sam Fox School is home to The Center for Health Research & Design (CHRD), a multidisciplinary research center aimed at improving the physical and virtual environments for health and delivery of care. The CHRD provides research opportunities in architecture, urban design, communication design, and art.

Exhibition & Studio Spaces
The Sam Fox School's six-building complex features numerous exhibition and maker spaces, a dedicated art and architecture library, and a world-class art museum. With state-of-the-art spaces dedicated to fabrication, printmaking, wood -and metal-working, and digital design, our students have unparalleled resources that support a positive creative culture.
The School maintains three galleries: Steinberg Hall Gallery, Weitman Gallery, and the Des Lee Gallery in the heart of the historic Washington Avenue Loft District downtown. Installation spaces throughout our spaces are available for students to reserve for temporary exhibitions and interventions.
