Oxford Science Building
Completed in 2015, the Science Building was designed with faculty input to fit the needs of science-related learning, research, and collaboration, and is one of the LEED Gold Certified Buildings on campus. The second floor is dedicated to physics, astronomy, and environmental sciences, the third floor to biology, and the fourth floor to chemistry, with 12 labs total. There is also a central gathering space called the “Nucleus” that is used for group study sessions, meetings between faculty and students, or to showcase student research.

⭐ Faculty at Oxford
No college could run without their faculty, and Oxford’s professors play an especially large role in the student experience here. Oxford is focused on hiring professors as teaching faculty first, meaning that the professors are committed to spending a large amount of their time on office hours and supporting students both inside and outside the classroom, and less time on research. Professors who come to Oxford specifically want to work with first and second year students. The small class sizes makes professors readily accessible and forms close connections between faculty and students. In an Oxford classroom, your professor will always know your name and be committed to helping you as a student and getting to know you as a person.
⭐ Research Opportunities
Though faculty are focused on teaching, there are still numerous opportunities to get involved with research at Oxford. Oxford provides first and second year students with the chance to be a part of professional research much earlier in their college careers than is usually possible. Research is available to students regardless of their intended major, with projects in the sciences, humanities, and social sciences. Within the Oxford Research Scholars Program, students work with faculty throughout the academic year and present at the end during the Oxford Research Scholars Symposium. Students can also get involved in the Summer Undergraduate Research at Emory/Oxford (SURE - Oxford) program, where they will work with Oxford faculty for 10 weeks over the summer.
