⭐ The Oxford Math Center
Students at Oxford take challenging classes but are provided support systems that help them to achieve their academic goals. One of these resources is the Math Center, which offers one-on-one tutoring from both faculty and student tutors for all math classes taught at Oxford. Students can drop-in or set up an appointment and get help on homework assignments, difficult concepts, or studying for a test.
⭐ The Oxford Writing Center
The Writing Center is another resource for academic support on campus. Peer consultants are trained to support all forms of student writing, whether for academic, professional, or personal purposes. They are also available at any point in the writing process, from brainstorming to argument development to polishing. Students can get help starting their essay for Biology class, have another person look through their presentation for a research project, or talk through ways of improving a screenplay they’ve written for the Drama Guild.
⭐ Supplemental Instructors
Supplemental Instruction is an academic assistance program that supports students taking historically difficult courses at Oxford. A student leader, called a Supplemental Instructor (SI), who has already taken the class and performed well in it, leads weekly review sessions for current students of the class. The SI helps answer students’ questions, provides strategies for tackling difficult topics in the class, and gives their advice on how to study before exams. SI sessions are completely optional, but students who do regularly attend SI sessions can see an increase in their grade in the class by a half to a full letter grade.
