Campus Safety

The Florida State University Police Department is centrally located on campus in Tanner Hall.

⭐ Campus Safety

The Florida State University Police Department is dedicated to supporting the educational mission of Florida State University by striving to create and maintain the safest possible environment for its students, staff, and visitors.

The FSU Police Department (FSU PD) is located in Tanner Hall and employs close to 85 sworn personnel. Although they aren’t affiliated with the Tallahassee Police Department, the two police forces work hand in hand to ensure the safety and security of our campus community. Officers patrol our campus and the immediate surrounding areas 24/7 by bike, foot, ATV, and SUV. FSU PD has implemented a number of crime prevention programs and an emergency alert system that sends out text message and email notifications to our campus community to help keep everyone safe. The SeminoleSAFE Mobile App places all the emergency information you need including alerts, announcements, response guides and push notifications all in one place. SAFE Connection is available when students need a free, safe escort on or around campus. The emergency Blue Light Trail consists of over 400 strategically placed light poles equipped with emergency speakerphones and strobe lights. If you ever feel uncomfortable while on campus or need assistance, just push the emergency button to be connected with the FSUPD at any time.
