The College of Social Sciences and Public Policy offers 6 academic and 17 interdisciplinary programs, centers, and institutes address virtually every economic, political, and social issue that society is facing in the 21st century.
Our Faculty
The College of Social Sciences and Public Policy is home to 120 faculty members. Our 16 Eminent Scholar Chairs and named professors are acclaimed by virtue of their outstanding research and excellence in teaching. More than 30 percent of our faculty are award-winning teachers.
Our Programs
All of our departments offer professional master’s degrees that greatly enhance career opportunities. Ph.D. degrees are offered in Economics, Geography, Political Science, Public Administration and Policy, Sociology, and Urban and Regional Planning.
Many of our programs have achieved national acclaim and consistently rank in the top tiers among public universities. Among them are Urban and Regional Planning, Political Science, Urban Economics, Health and Aging, Gender Studies and the Askew School of Public Administration and Policy.
The departments of Economics and Political Science have formed the Experimental Social Science Research Group (XS/FS), one of the nation’s premier programs in experimental methods. XF/FS has been awarded a competitive hiring initiative grant from Pathways of Excellence, which identifies interdisciplinary clusters of faculty that will generate more federal contracts and grants, increase scholarly output, and produce more doctoral students.
