🏫 College of Law
The College of Law's proximity provides advantages few other schools in the nation can match. Additionally, Tallahassee offers clerking and internship opportunities in more than 500 law firms; numerous state and federal courts; and the legislative and executive branches of government. Moreover, many of our more than 100 externship placements are located throughout Florida and beyond. These opportunities for students to obtain hands-on legal experience translate into jobs all over the world for our graduates. Academics Florida State's first year curriculum is a traditional one. It provides a robust foundation in history, doctrine, philosophy, process, and analytical methods that students must have to launch successful careers. In the second and third years, we offer students a spectrum of specialized courses and clinical experiences. Our programs in business law, environmental law, and international law are all highly respected, and our J.D. students can earn a certificate in any of these specialty areas. We also offer an LL.M. in Environmental Law and Policy, an LL.M in Business Law, an LL.M. in American Law for Foreign Lawyers, and a one-year Juris Master program for college graduates. Students can also take advantage of one of the nine joint-graduate pathways we offer in cooperation with other colleges, schools, and departments at Florida State University. The most popular of these is our J.D.-M.B.A. program.
