In fact, the rise of technology and instant global communications present new crime fighting challenges. Yet we remain on the cutting edge of those challenges by modeling timely, innovative research that results in public policy solutions for the entire criminal justice community.

The College of Criminology and Criminal Justice sets the standard for education and scientific study of crime and criminal justice. Our top priority is to provide our graduates with critical and independent thinking skills. The College is a vibrant intellectual community of students, professors, researchers, staff, alumni, and friends. We are committed to excellence and our brand – “Research Brought to Life” – conveys our vision of striving to provide cutting edge research and teaching that ultimately contributes to improving society by reducing the suffering, pain and cost of crime.
The College is on the move and it is a dynamic and influential place to be a part of. We have developed new educational partnerships within Florida State University aimed at providing our students access to newly emerging education and career path alternatives. These include the 3 + 3 Program with the College of Law and Cyber Criminology with the Department of Computer Science. We also offer the combined bachelor’s/master’s pathway, providing students an opportunity to get a jumpstart on graduate school. Our Center for Criminology and Public Policy Research is engaged in numerous research and policy studies that afford our students funding and research opportunities in various areas such as education and crime, elderly exploitation, financial fraud, juvenile and adult reentry, prison drug treatment and recidivism, domestic violence, campus sexual misconduct, electronic surveillance and numerous other areas. Our Distance Learning Program provides Bachelors and Masters degrees taught by our highly ranked faculty that involves our PhD students as teaching assistants thereby providing them excellent opportunities to expand their knowledge and teaching competences as they prepare for university teaching and research positions.
